Prioritise your team with our range of occupational health services

Summer may have arrived early this year, but it is here to stay. With the highest ever May temperatures recorded last month, and the unprecedented heat set to continue, now is the time to take a proactive approach to keeping your employees safe at work: both with in-house measures, and our range of occupational health services.

Our occupational health services

Last year, the Commission for Healthier Working Lives 300,000 revealed that 8.2 million people of working-age in the UK have a long-term health condition that limits their ability to work. As of March 2025, only half of these people are in work today, whilst a further 300,000 permanently exit the UK workforce each year due to health reasons.

As a leading provider of occupational medicals, our focus is on the prevention of work-related health issues and the provision of a healthy workplace for all, regardless of industry. We put the relevant protections in place to:

  • Keep healthy employees in work.
  • Prevent the spread of illness.
  • And facilitate a safe return to work.

So take this opportunity to assess your organisation’s current policies, and find out all about our services in more detail below.

Post-recruitment medicals

As an employer, you have a duty of care towards your workers in accordance with the disability provisions of the Equality Act, whether their role is a physically-demanding one or not.

Our pre-commencement screenings verify that any new hires are medically fit enough to perform their duties safely with a combination of the following checks:

  • A pre-employment health questionnaire.
  • Blood testing.
  • Hearing and vision testing.
  • A lung function test.
  • A routine ECG.
  • And drug screening (also available as a separate service).

We will also pre-screen employees for further examinations if any health issues are identified prior to the commencement of their role.

Annual medicals

Available as an annual service, or as part of our health surveillance services, these reviews will monitor the ongoing health and wellbeing of your team and assess your entire organisation’s risk control measures.

These medicals can be conducted either on-site or off-site and (like all of our services) are adaptable to meet your needs. Through a series of planned assessments and ongoing surveillance, we will:

  • Identify any early signs of occupational illnesses in your employees.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of your risk control protocols.
  • And advise on any additional preventative measures.

Our services are provided in compliance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations, and we will work with you to safeguard your employee’s long-term welfare.

Executive medical screening

In the interest of monitoring employee health, without hindering their day-to-day productivity, we offer medical screening services specifically for busy executives.

These screenings include:

  • A full physical examination.
  • Hearing and vision tests.
  • Blood tests including full blood count, cholesterol, glucose, and kidney and liver function tests.
  • An ECG and chest x-ray (conducted at a local private hospital).
  • Lung function testing.
  • And thyroid and PSA tests for individuals over 50 years of age.

We pride ourselves on offering flexible occupational health services that work for your employees and their packed schedules, and each screening will conclude with a personalised medical report (including recommendations) that is sent directly to the employee.

Sickness absence reviews

If you do not yet have a system in place to manage employee absences due to illness or injury then you lack the necessary visibility over your team’s health.

Our services provide the clarity you need regarding:

  • An employee’s condition.
  • The expected duration of their absence.
  • Any potential impact on their long-term health.
  • And whether they will be able to return to their previous role.

We will also liaise with GP’s and other local healthcare providers to maintain a clear understanding of your employee’s health status and provide you with regular updates on their expected return to work.

Return to work medicals

Our return to work services go hand-in-hand with our absence reviews to support employees throughout their illness, recovery, and eventual return to the workplace.

A full health review is mandatory following a long-term absence, but supporting someone back into their role involves much more than a one-off assessment. We will be able to advise both you and your employees on:

  • Whether the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) applies to them.
  • What reasonable adjustments need to be made.
  • If their duties should be restricted or amended.
  • And whether a phased return to work is required.

With our services, your organisation can identify and implement the accommodations required for a safe return to work, and manage the process with follow-up reviews as needed.

Employee drug screening

Drug screening must be unannounced, impartial, and in line with company policy in order to be both effective and compliant, and many organisations prefer to outsource this responsibility to us.

We offer drug testing as part of our pre-commencement screenings and also as a one-off service to detect the following illicit substances:

  • Cocaine.
  • Opiates (including heroin).
  • Benzodiazepines (e.g. Diazepam).
  • Amphetamines.
  • And cannabis.

If any internal investigations are instigated as a result of these tests, then additional laboratory confirmatory testing is also available to verify the results and support your efforts to maintain a team that is fit for duty.
