Find out how our travel health clinic can keep you safe and healthy

Toothbrushes, Christmas jumpers, gifts for the whole family – and maybe even suncream depending on where you’re travelling to! If you’re getting ready to hop on a plane and spend Christmas in another country then packing your bags will unfortunately have to wait until after your appointment at our travel health clinic.

Having a chat with our team to discuss your preventative measures and get any vaccinations you need will make sure that your trip is memorable for all the right reasons. So, which of our services do you need to get ready for your travels?

Our travel health clinic

If you’re planning the adventure of a lifetime this Christmas and New Year, or you’re catching a long-haul flight to visit friends you haven’t seen for years, the last thing you want is to be exposed to unfamiliar infections or diseases.

So, don’t risk travelling without the protection you deserve. Our London-based travel health clinic is your one-stop destination for all the pre-travel health advice, vaccinations, and preventive measures you need to prepare for your trip, so simply book a consultation with a member of our team and we will do the rest.

During your appointment, our travel doctor will ask you about your travel plans, including your destination, your previous vaccinations, and any health risks we should be aware of. The doctor will then let you know if any vaccinations or medications are needed and will make arrangements for you to get the treatment you need well in advance of your departure date.

Travel health advice

If you are travelling to a destination that does not require you to be vaccinated we will still be able to notify you of any outbreaks or global health issues that may affect your plans. We will also be able to advise you on the best preventative measures to protect yourself and your travel companions this Christmas.

This might be a discussion about the importance of applying insect repellent or a reminder to avoid unclean water that may contain water-borne diseases. After all, a vaccination is not the only way to protect your body, and exploring a new culture often comes with a few health risks that are easy to overlook until they start causing issues.

Our London vaccination clinic

You will probably already know if you are going to need any vaccinations before travelling, either through your own research or through travel advice when booking your flights. However, what you might not know is that they will need to be administered several weeks before your departure date.

Our advice is to book your appointment between 4-6 weeks before your flight, as this gives your body enough time to develop immunity and also gives you enough time to organise any additional vaccinations you need. Some of the vaccinations that we administer will also require multiple doses across these weeks to provide you with adequate protection, so make sure that you don’t leave it any later to book your appointment.

Our travel vaccinations

It is our job to keep you as safe and healthy as possible whilst travelling and we offer a range of travel vaccinations at our London vaccination clinic. We are also an Approved Yellow Fever Centre and are able to provide rabies vaccinations and antimalarial medication, so you can access all the vaccinations, medication and travel advice that you need under one roof.

As we already mentioned, the right vaccinations for you will depend upon your travel plans and your destination, so ask yourself these important questions when booking your appointment:

  • Where am I travelling to?
  • How long will I be staying?
  • Am I aware of any destination-specific health risks or will I require specialist advice from Heathrow Medical?
  • Will I be doing any dangerous or outdoor activities?
  • Have I been vaccinated before, including any boosters?

This will help our medical practitioners to recommend the right vaccinations for you and make sure that there are no roadblocks on your journey. Once you’ve been fully vaccinated (please note that this may require multiple doses), you will receive your vaccination certificate and be fully cleared to travel, and our team is always happy to answer any questions and to provide you with extra information before you travel.
