Understanding our full range of work medicals
As well as being a specialist Aero-Medical Centre, we are also a leading provider of professional occupational health services and work medicals. With over 20 years of experience in the field we have assisted countless organisations to prioritise the health and wellbeing of their workers regardless of team size or occupational hazards.
Our medicals ensure that your employees’ health is protected from the moment they start working for you to the minute they leave. So, let’s take a look at the work medicals we offer to increase productivity, reduce staff illness, and help you meet your obligations to your staff.
Pre-Commencement Medicals
Your duty of care to a new employee begins long before their first day. You have a responsibility to them and to your existing employees, particularly if you are hiring for a physically-demanding role, to make sure that they are medically fit to perform their duties, which is why we offer Post-Recruitment Medicals.
This full physical examination service can include the following, if required:
- A routine ECG
- Lung function tests
- Hearing and vision tests
- Urine drug screening
- Blood testing
We are also happy to review any pre-employment health questionnaires filled out by applicants to identify potential health issues and advise whether further examinations are needed.
Sickness Absence Reviews
If long-term sickness absences are affecting your bottom line and putting pressure on your team, then you are not alone – and we are here to manage these stresses on your behalf.
As part of our occupational health services we offer Sickness Absence Reviews to assess your employee’s health whilst they are off-work. This includes liaising with their GPs to keep you updated on their expected return to work date and advising your HR departments on how to facilitate this with reduced hours or alternative duties.
Having these policies in place will help your personnel to provide employees with the appropriate accommodations and support them as they resume their duties – alongside our Return to Work services.
Return to Work Medicals
Following a Sickness Absence Review, or if you have an employee who is recovering from a workplace accident, a Return to Work Review is needed to help them get back to work safely and in good health.
These programmes will either confirm their fitness for work straight away or outline any restrictions that should be placed on their duties as they gradually acclimatise back into the workplace. Following this one-off review, we will support you to monitor the employee over the next few weeks and conduct any follow-up reviews that are required.
We are also able to advise you on any workplace adjustments and accommodations that are required by the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), so get in touch with us today for more information or to book an appointment.
Employee Drug Screening
Employers have a responsibility to ensure that their team is fit for duty, particularly in hazardous industries, and this includes verifying that they are alcohol and drug free.
Random drug testing is a proven strategy used by many UK employers to deter the misuse of substances in the workplace, which is why we offer on-site breath alcohol and urine testing to detect the use of illicit substances including cocaine, opiates, benzodiazepines, amphetamines, and cannabis. Additional laboratory confirmatory testing is also available to verify the results needed for a review or investigation.
Executive Medical Screening
For our busy, on-the-go corporate clients, we provide comprehensive medical screening to identify any health issues and protect their overall wellbeing. Our Executive Medical Screens include:
- A physical examination
- An ECG
- A lung function test
- A chest x-ray at a local private hospital
- Hearing and vision assessment
- Urine screening
- Blood tests including:
- Full blood count
- Kidney and liver function tests
- Cholesterol
- Glucose
- Thyroid tests (for individuals over 50 years of age)
- PSA (prostate specific antigen; for men over 50 years of age)
Once this occupational medical has been completed, we will provide each individual with a personalised medical report that details all our findings and includes any recommendations for further tests or support.
Employee Health Surveillance Services
Prevention is always better than cure when it comes to protecting your team’s health, which is why we offer a range of Health Surveillance Medicals to monitor the health and wellbeing of your employees.
Our medicals comply with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and are adapted to suit your needs and meet the compliance standards of your industry. This includes annual health screening for workers in busy and high-risk environments like airports and all of our medicals can be conducted either on-site or off-site, depending on what works best for your team.
Whilst our main aim is to continually monitor the health of your team and detect the early signs of any occupational illnesses, we will also be able to advise your personnel on any safety protocols or preventative measures that are needed to protect your employees and provide a safe working environment.
These services are adaptable to the needs of your business, so whether you opt for on-site or off-site services, get in touch today to book an appointment at a time convenient for you.
